My impressionist paintings are ongoing conversations between the world I live in and the world that lives within myself. Inspired by the places I live in and visit across the globe, my compositions are not an exact rendering. Instead, they translate my impressions, memories, and emotions.
My creative process is a hybrid of both plein air and studio work. Out in the world, I soak in the atmosphere, make several sketches and take photos for inspiration. Back in my studio, I just keep looking on at my references for days until scenes mix together, experiences get superimposed on each other, and an idea begins to form. This gets further transformed when I assign forms and shapes to that idea, and a painting is born.
